a glorious array of vintage analog options
Prairie Sun rocks my world when I work there because it keeps getting better every time. From updated Pro Tools systems with new converters, to the latest plugins, to improved monitoring and a continued investment in the maintenance of their analog infrastructure, Prairie Sun remains my state-of-the-art studio of choice for its glorious array of vintage analog options combined with the best in contemporary digital technology. I always win at Prairie Sun and so does the client.

the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts
Prairie Sun has a special place in the hearts of many of my clients. It's not just about the gear and it's not just the relationships with the people, either. It's everything - the instruments, the people, the dogs - and yes, the gear too. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

caring individuals with great musical instincts
"I have worked with Prairie Sun on numerous recording projects for the past 35 years. What a great experience to partner with a team of such talented and caring individuals who have great musical instincts, and enough guts to take creative risks; all the while being flexible enough to keep changing and progressing as an industry leader. Prairie Sun's the real deal! Relaxed environment, top quality equipment (both analog and digital), and a trusted staff that is both passionate and highly professional. I look forward many more productive years of creating music at my favorite studio, Prairie Sun."

expectations exceeded in numerous respects
"I had the opportunity to work in Studio A at Prairie Sun for five days in March 2017. This is the real deal-- superb sound, well-maintained vintage analog/hybrid equipment, and a top quality engineer (Tim Gennert). Lots of excellent memories. My expectations were exceeded in numerous respects, and the price I paid for the whole experience was well worth it.

get comfortable and focus on the music
Mooka (the owner) and all of the other folks that work there went way (way, way, way) above and beyond to make sure I got an album I was happy with on the budget that I had. Recording when you feel like you're on the clock is pretty stressful, but it's a really laid back environment and the attitude of everyone there makes it easy to feel welcome, get comfortable, and focus on the music.

you have to have good equipment to make a pro record
I like Prairie Sun for a lot of reasons. It starts with the equipment, because you have to have good equipment to make a pro record. You can make an album in a garage but it's not going to be as good. It's not going to be a professional album. And there's nothing but pro equipment at Prairie Sun. Always has been!
