Prairie Sun Studio A
Studio A
Studio A is our flagship Mixing studio. Commissioned in 2001, Studio A(Version 2) was designed, and tuned by Manny LaCarrubba of Grimani Systems http://www.grimanisystems.com/ utilizing “spectral acoustics,” and features an 56 channel Solid State Logic 4000 E/G mixing console refurbished by Bruce Millett, The Desk Doctor http://www.deskdoctor.com

The room features a fully equipped Pro Tools HDX system with conversion via Burl Audio’s Mothership, and two "Black-Face" Avid HD I/O’s.

Accurate monitoring is provided via ATC45's, TAD TSM-1’s, Barefoot MicroMain 27’s (Gen 2), and Pro AC Studio 100's.

Two original EMT plates are available at a moments notice, along with a bevy of other vintage, and modern effects, along with an amazing collection of outboard processing.

Tie lines are available to all other studios on the farm, allowing our signature spaces, such as The Waits Room, and The Prairie Room to be used as some of the most interesting echo chambers in Northern California.

Studio A also features a mid-size isolation booth, with direct line of sight to the control room. With a comfortable, and spacious floorplan, Studio A is perfect for extended mixing, or overdub sessions. For a full list of gear, or to book Studio A, please call or email us.
Prairie Sun Studio B
Studio B
The centerpiece of Prairie Sun, Studio B is our Custom, Class-A, Neve 8026 Mixing Console equipped with Flying Faders II. Originally built for Pete Townshend’s Eel Pie Recording Studios in London, UK, the console was used to record parts of The Who’s Quadrophenia, and Pete’s solo work.

Lovingly restored by Aurora Audio’s, Geoff Tanner, and engineer, Gene Cornelius, our 8026 represents one of the best examples of a pedigree 80 Series Neve Console in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our 8026 is complemented by a
fully equipped Pro Tools HDX system and two "Black-Face" Avid HD I/O’s. In addition to the Pro Tools id the original Studer A-827 tape machine. Accurate monitoring is provided via Barefoot MicroMain 26's, Yamaha NS-10's monitors .

Originally grain storage for the La Lameda Chicken Hatchery, the tracking space maintains rustic, yet open acoustics, perfect for that classic, tight drum sound, intimate jazz, and acoustic music.

A completely restored 9-foot Baldwin SD6 grand piano, with an amazing, larger than life sound.

Also available to Studio B is our Hammond B3 organ, and Rhodes MK II electric piano. For a full list of gear, or to book Studio B, please call or email us.
Prairie Sun Studio C
Studio C
The creative vibe of Prairie Sun Studio C hits you the moment you walk through the door. With three distinct acoustic spaces, Studio C is spacious, and can easily accommodate large ensembles.

Studio C also features the world famous “Waits Room,” where Tom Waits tracked albums such as “Bone Machine,” and “Mule Variations.” Left virtually untouched since the days of the La Lameda Hatchery,

“The Waits Room” has a distinct sound that has even been featured on Bricasti’s M7 reverb systems, along with Studio C’s “Prairie Room,” and our two original EMT Plate Reverbs.

Studio C also houses our second 80 Series Neve console, a Custom 8024, along with a completely restored, early 70's, API 1604 console. And our 8024 is complemented by a
fully equipped Pro Tools HDX system and two "Black-Face" Avid HD I/O’s.
