Prairie Sun Recording Studios
Newsletter Teaser
Greetings!
Our next regularly-scheduled Prairie Sun
Newsletter is still a few weeks
away, so in the meantime we wanted to whet
your appetite with a few of the more exciting
developments here at Prairie Sun this Spring.
For more details, please join us on Facebook
or MySpace
and read our regularly updated blogs.
Prairie Sun's YouTube Debut w/ Eric Gales
Blues-rock ripper Eric
Gales is back at
Prairie Sun (his fourth visit), recording and
mixing his next album for the Shrapnel
Label
Group's Blues
Bureau Records. For this record
Eric has once again re-teamed with producer
Mike
Varney and engineers Jason
D'Ottavio and Mooka
Rennick, and
as he moved into guitar overdubs in Studio
C,
Prairie Sun's newly-deputized video crew was
invited in to document the process.
On Prairie Sun's new YouTube
channel you can now see two videos: one
of Eric and team investigating tonal
possibilities with master amp-builder Bill
Krinard (K&M Analog
Designs), and another where
you can see Eric lay down one of his solos
right before your eyes - he really makes it
that easy!
Everest to release "On Approach" on Warner Bros. Records
We are very happy to relay the exciting news
that our friends from Everest,
who tracked their new record "On Approach" in
Studio C last
fall, will be releasing the album May
11th on Warner
Brothers Records in conjunction with Vapor
Records.
Everest's new deal with Warner Brothers was
signed
after this year's SXSW festival,
which Prairie Sun owner/founder Mark "Mooka"
Rennick attended. In fact, Mooka was at the
Everest
show that "sealed the deal" for the Warner
Bros. executives checking out the band, though
no one knew that at the time
- Mooka just knew that Everest knocked the house
down! Obviously Warner agreed.
Corin Nelsen & Ronnda Cadle
We also wanted to take a moment to tell you
about our sessions this winter with
Grammy-winning producer/engineer Corin
Nelsen for artist Ronnnda
Cadle's new album. The initial guitar
tracks were recorded with producer Will
Ackerman (founder of Windham Hill
Records) at his Imaginary
Road Studios. At Prairie Sun, Corin spent
a week in Studio
B recording a host of world-class
musicians including percussionist Denny
Fongheiser (Heart, Bruce Springsteen,
Tracy Chapman, John Paul Jones), pianist Kori Linae
Carothers, upright bassist Sam
Bevan, guitarist Lawrence
Blatt, guitarist Jeff Garver,
eight-string electric bassist Edo
Castro, and flugelhorn player Jeff Oster.
