Prairie Sun was proud to recently record legendary reggae
drummer Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, performing with
members of frequent Prairie Sun client Groundation and guitarist Will Bernard. Well
known and respected for his drumming work for such reggae
acts as Burning Spear, Horsemouth was also the star of the
1978 reggae film "Rockers". The tracking was done in Studio C by
Jason D'Ottavio.
We were also very happy to have the Mountain Goats return
to Prairie Sun to stay in the guest houses and track their new
record with engineer Scott Solter in Studio B. The Goats
made use of many of our resources, including many studio
instruments and the tie-lines to Studio C, so they could track
in our excellent live chambers.

Pro Sound News features Prairie Sun

Pro
Sound News features Prairie Sun Recording in their March
2006 issue.
Along with interviews with Co-owner/Founder Mark
"Mooka"
Rennick, the article provides a nice overview of the
rooms,
gear, people, and history that make up Prairie Sun.
"A rural Sonoma Valley residential recording
facility, Prairie
Sun Studios has been around since 1980, but it may
well be in
the midst of a heyday. The drop-off in major label
work that
has closed so many studio doors has also caused a
surge in
independent record releases, and studio time for the
kinds of
artists Prairie Sun has been after all along."

Mooka's personal notes:
We hope to see everyone at the benefit show April
7th at the Phoenix Theater. And for those not in the
North Bay area, we humbly ask that you consider
supporting the NOMC by purchasing "Winds of Change."
I want to extend my deep gratitude to all the
musicians and engineers who participated in the
project, and everyone who donated their time and/or
money to make this release and concert possible.
Let's do everything we can to help our compatriot
musicians in New Orleans!
On another subject, I'd like to thank our sponsors
Lavry
Engineering and Furman Sound.
Through consultation with these companies, we've
learned how to take full advantage of the sonic
possibilities offered by digital audio. And by using
Furman's IT-Reference
20 to power and Lavry
Blue units to clock our Pro Tools HD systems in
Studio's A and B, we've noticed a night and day
difference in the quality of our digital sound that
has us very excited.
Sincerely,
Mark "Mooka" Rennick
